The Opera Company/Théâtre Basse Passière

A staged evening of opera and lieder, exploring the subject of the Tarot. Each aria was chosen to correspond with a particular Tarot card, and when that card was chosen by an audience member, the corresponding number was performed, making each evening a unique event. The audience members were then given a reading based on the cards drawn. Including music by Bellini, Mozart, Offenbach, Massenet and others, this project highlighted the many fascinating connections between the world of opera and the Tarot: both deal with with the archetypal themes and situations that we find in life, and are an attempt to understand ourselves and the world in an intuitive, psychologically rich way.
